Is any of this sending data anywhere?#

One request, about once a day: the check that confirms your subscription is current. It carries a salted hash of a machine identifier, macos or windows, and the app version. That is the whole list.

No analytics, no usage counters, no crash uploads, and no record of what you opened, shared or typed — there is nowhere in that request to put any of it.

Does it work without the internet?#

Yes. The subscription answer is cached and carries a 7-day grace period, so an aeroplane, a hotel captive portal or an outage on our side changes nothing. Being unreachable is not the same as not being allowed, and the app only acts on an answer that actually says your plan has ended.

Can a website detect it?#

Not through the question it is allowed to ask. A site that fingerprints deeply enough will eventually find a difference — see Limits, which says so plainly rather than claiming otherwise.

Why does it need its own browser?#

Because a browser will only let an application add an extension to a session that application started. There is no way around it, and Perch does not try to patch your existing install.

Do I need to pay?#

Yes, for Perch. It is part of the Pro plan, NZ$105 every three months, which also covers Argon, Typeswap and both platforms. Anti-Blur and Sodium are on the NZ$10 Supporter plan. See pricing.

If you stop paying, nothing is deleted. Perch stays installed with your settings and browser profile untouched; it stops opening and stops updating, and opening it explains what changed and offers to resubscribe. Chrome extensions stay installed and keep working, without updates.

How do I remove it completely?#

Uninstall, then delete the browser profile if you want it gone — the uninstaller deliberately leaves it, because it holds your signed-in sessions.
